Previous contest of the Wilanów for young talents programme.
. |
For the first time in its history, the Wilanów Palace Museum hosted an exhibition of the
works of young fashion designers and masters of the art of tailoring. These young people
took part in the national Wilanów for young talents programme focused around a contest to
design a costume in the rococo style. The contest was held in two categories:
'Reconstructions' and 'Inspirations'. The result was an exhibit entitled The Charm of
Rococo’s Fashion. Presented among the works in the 'Reconstruction' category are
delightful dresses worn by the famous beauty, Marquise de Pompadour, as well as a dress
worn at court by the Queen of France, Marie Antoinette. Also on display were men's
garments from both Poland and France, among them a stylish, embroidered justaucorps.
The featured replicas of Polish national costumes were true gems of reconstruction, with
elements quoted directly from original pieces. Meanwhile, the Inspiration category was an
explosion of youth, fresh ideas, colour and fantasy.
