| HELENA MODJESKA – ICON OF STYLE contest is organized by The Wilanów Palace Museum. It involves sewing an outfit based on designs of Helena Modjeska’s dresses. Contest is divided into two categories: Reconstructions and Inspirations. |

Reconstruction involves recreating stage or private clothes of Helena Modjeska based on dress selected from among those presented in our collection on contest’s website.
|
|
Inspiration means designing and sewing clothes that have practical utility, could actually be used, worn, but inspired by the dress of Modjeska selected from among those presented in Photo gallery on the contest’s website.

Contest participants who would like to take part in Reconstruction category please go to Description of Dresses and Patterns section which is located under Modjeska section and which presents 20 dresses.

Each dress is presented alongside archival photos of Modjeska, drawings and descriptions. Reconstruction professional - Katarzyna Janiszewska, made drawings showing entire dresses and prepared patterns for all dresses based on analysis of archival photos and prints. Patterns can be found on the website as PDF files, and can be downloaded and printed out. They will help you in your work reconstructing the dress.

Once you decide which dress you would like to recreate, please reserve it by clicking Reserve this dress button at the bottom of the page. Next, you will be redirected to fill in the application form. After it is filled and accepted you will be able to print it out. Printed out and signed form should be mailed to the address of the Organizer alongside samples of fabrics you intend to use for your reconstruction. One dress can be reserved only!

If you would like to participate in Inspirations category, please see photographs of Helena Modjeska in Photo gallery under Modjeska section. Here, there is no need to reserve, as in this case a number of participants can drew inspirations from one dress. Once you decide which dress would be inspiration for your design, please click on Fill in application form button placed at the bottom of Photo gallery page. After application form is filled and accepted you will be able to print it out. Printed and signed form should be mailed to the address of the Organizer alongside patterns of your designs and samples of fabrics you intend to use.
